Chance Encounters

5 July, 1992, South Africa. A young girl observes her mother, she is crying even though it is her birthday. This happens every year on her mother’s birthday after which follows the story that explains her tears. When her mother was fifteen years old, her world was shaken when her father was chased and shot by the South African security police for a reason that remains a mystery in the family until today. He was driving in his car on his way home after buying her a birthday cake.
